In the neighbouring Telangana, BRS working president KTR is selling a similar dream. He has been predicting by-elections if the party-hoppers’ seats are taken away.
Of the 119 seats, Telangana Congress won 75 seats and BRS got 28. Even if the defected 10 will be disqualified, the Congress will still be leading. So there is no scope for by-elections.
KTR and even his father and BRS founder KCR are trying to boost morale of their cadre by uttering boisterous statements about Congress.
People in Telangana have given a clear mandate and there is no scope for by-elections till the next five years. Even if one takes into consideration the internal fights in Congress, that will at the most lead to change in leader and not the party.
In fact, BRS has decided not to participate in graduate MLC polls. All this shows that KTR’s dream may not come true after all!
