Will Modi Government Fall for KCR’s Plan?

Telangana government is bringing 17 new districts in the state which will come into effect from Dussehra. This is a huge expenditure to the state exchequer but Telangana government has set a Master Plan to bring additional funds from the center in the name of these new districts. The Central government is giving 50 Crore to each backward district in Telangana.

Except for Hyderabad, the remaining Nine districts of Telangana are receiving these funds which are to the tune of 450 Crore per year. Now, the backward districts number has gone up to Twenty Six. Telangana government has written to the center asking to allot 1300 Crore per year to this districts.

If the center agrees to this proposal, Telangana government will be recovering most of the amount needed for setting up new districts. But if Telangana government’s request is adhered to, the remaining states will come up with a similar plan of dividing districts and getting more funds from the Center.
