It is more or less clear that TRS will sweep the MP elections and the muhurath of the Power Transfer will depend on the calculations in Delhi. If it is a hung Parliament, the Power Transfer will happen immediately. Coming to Andhra Pradesh, the clarity about it may emerge only after the results on May 23rd.
The Power Transfer will be smooth if TDP wins the elections. Naidu may wait for a year or two and bring up Lokesh to the driver’s seat. To elevate Lokesh’s image in the people, Naidu fielded him from Mangalagiri, a seat where TDP did not win since 1985. In case TDP loses the election, Power Transfer will become difficult.
The challenges of the opposition may be too much for a new and inexperienced leader. Naidu may not choose such crucial time to promote his son and at the same time, he does not have age on his side to actively fight in the Opposition. It has to be seen what happens on May 23rd.
