Jagan Govt Approaches SC On Amaravati

Months after the adverse judgment in Andhra Pradesh High Court over the three capitals, the state government finally approached the Supreme Court over the judgment.

The state government in the petition informed the Apex Court that the High Court‘s judgment is an encroachment into the powers of the legislature and should be slashed immediately.

“The High Court judgment says the assembly has no power to make legislation over the state capital. Three capitals idea is aimed at decentralization of development in Andhra Pradesh. It is an attempt to make the Assembly redundant,” the state said in the petition.

The state government also informed the Supreme Court that it is not possible to implement the judgment of High Court I.e., completing the capital construction
in a time bound manner.

The petition was delayed until the retirement of NV Ramana as Jagan suspects that the Former Chief Justice will favor Amaravati and Chandrababu Naidu.
