YS Jagan: Pro-Amaravati or Anti-Amaravati, Decision Time

Andhra Pradesh’s capital, Amaravati, the dream project of N. Chandrababu Naidu, is back in the spotlight.

The AP Assembly has recently passed a resolution declaring Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh. The proposal is set to be sent to Parliament soon for legal sanctity, putting to rest earlier uncertainties and fears raised during the tenure of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has faced a clear and decisive political setback. In the last few days, the party has once again displayed multiple U-turns on the capital issue.

It began with a senior leader publicly endorsing Amaravati as the capital on behalf of the party. Within two days, leaders like Botsa Satyanarayana and Dharmana Prasada Rao made completely contradictory statements, exposing internal confusion.

Today, around 11 AM, all eyes are on Jagan, who has called for a press meet in Tadepalli. His past stance adds to the suspense. When Amaravati was first announced, he had said he would wholeheartedly support it. What followed later was one of the biggest political reversals, with the push for the three-capital concept that effectively stalled Amaravati.

Now, the big question returns. Will he support Amaravati or oppose it once again?

The concern runs deeper. Regardless of whether he makes a positive or negative statement today, the larger issue is credibility. The party’s repeated flip-flops on the state capital have created lasting uncertainty.

Even if Jagan backs Amaravati now, doubts will remain. Will he stand by it this time, or is another reversal waiting down the line, no one can trust!
