Sharmila To Merge YSRTP In Congress?

With the elections season fast approaching in Telangana, a lot is being said about the political equations in the state. One such report is that YSTRP chief Sharmila could be merging her party in Congress.

When asked about the same, Sharmila has an interesting response.

“If a merger is all I wanted, why would I do Padayatra for 3800 KMs? Why would I go through so much on my own for 2 years. There are survey reports that I will be a force in 43 assembly segments in Telangana. Then what’s the need for alliances for me?” Sharmila said.

When asked if she recently met Congress main person, Sonia Gandhi, Sharmila replied “This is election period. Many things wi happen. I have been getting many missed calls. I will first tell the media if I have something big on political front. Till then, I will keep my options open.”

There’s no clear estimate on how effective Sharmila’s party will be in Telangana. Meanwhile, she’s claiming her party will be a force to reckon in 43 assembly seats across the state. She neither confirmed nor denied the reports about her forming alliances with other parties in the state.
