The news that AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister, YS Sharmila, is set to take over as the president of AP Congress has sent shockwaves through the ‘Tadepalli Palace.’
If Sharmila enters Andhra Pradesh politics, it is believed that Jagan’s influence will expand. Reports suggest that Jagan has dispatched senior YSRCP leader YV Subbareddy as an emissary to dissuade his sister from returning to AP.
Subba Reddy attempted to persuade Sharmila that campaigning against Jagan in AP could create a family rift and be detrimental to everyone involved.
However, it is reported that Sharmila expressed serious reservations and posed several questions to YV regarding perceived injustices. She asserted that she has her own political plans and is not ready to compromise.
The Tadepalli camp is growing increasingly concerned as opposition to the Jagan government intensifies among the public, and voices of discontent within the party are on the rise.
If Sharmila indeed enters Andhra Pradesh politics, the wings of the YSRCP could face expansion.
According to reliable sources, Jagan is reportedly willing to offer Sharmila the choice of contesting either the Kadapa MP seat or the Kamalapuram MLA seat, along with a ministerial position in his cabinet.
However, Sharmila has purportedly rejected the offer and instructed Subba Reddy to leave her alone.
