CENSOR

What is the film about?
Revenge through a con artist.

How is Allari Naresh’s performance?
Allari Naresh is in fine form here. He is controlled and never goes overboard with his performance. It’s a confident and settled act that one might mistake to be one dimensional.

Direction By Indraganti Mohan Krishna?
Direction by Indraganti Mohan Krishna is good but unfortunately he is let down by weak script. For a con movie that he had chosen it has to have a solid script with engaging screenplay otherwise everything feels feeble and flimsy and falls to grab our attention. It is to the credit of his direction with additional support by the dialogues that he had managed at least couple of sequences that hold our attention. It’s a good attempt but it could have been so much more.

Eesha and others performance?
Eesha is part of the main plot of the film but had very limited presence in the actual proceedings that happen. What ever little she is given she does it convincingly. Sampoornesh Babu is revelation of sorts which means under the right guidance he could be effective without doing his usual stuff. But the real show stealer of the film is without any doubt Rao Ramesh. He is sensational in the film from the beginning till the end. Previously when he did something similar it used to be completely over the top here it is done with perfection. Following him are Tanikella Bharani and Posani Krishna Murali who are fine as well. Together is the trio’s act that saves that film from being an absolute disaster. Avasarala Srinivas is decent in his small role.

Music and other departments?
Music of the film given by Kalyani Koduri is forgetful. He makes up for it with superb background score in key moments. Editing could been shaper given genre of the film. Cinematography is okay. Dialogues provided by director himself are superb and they are another primary source of engagement.

Highlights?
Dialogues.
Rao Ramesh.
Climax.

Drawbacks?
Predictable screenplay.
Slow narration.
Songs and their placement.

Alternative take:
The inspiration behind the film seems to be the series Hustle. Now if anyone is remotely aware of this series they would instantly know what an alternative take on a film like this would be. Bandipotu had all the ingredients and the perfect build up to the con. It is the actual con sequences that lack the tension and fizzle out. Sharp editing and better suspense would have worked wonders for the film.

Did I enjoy it?
Yes but only few parts.

Will you recommend it?
Yes but with lots of apprehension.
