Revanth Reddy-led Telangana Congress came into power in the state by dethroning the 10-year-government of BRS. Congress gave plenty of promises during its election campaign and there was new hope for the government to do better than BRS. But alas, Revanth Reddy seems to be focusing more on criticizing BRS than the welfare of the people.
The ongoing Assembly sessions in Telangana are less productive and more of personal abuses. As the primary opposition party, BRS holds the right to question Congress regarding its commitments and the strategies in place to fulfil them. Congress leaders should be ready to discuss how they are going to govern the state with the allocated budget and how they will deliver promises.
Instead, Congress is acting like an opposition party and spending the whole time criticizing the 10-year rule of BRS. Exposing such alleged corruption is necessary, there is no doubt about that. But Revanth shouldn’t focus solely on attacking BRS. As a Chief Minister, he should explain to his peers in the assembly and the people of Telangana about more important issues and how he will make the future better, unlike the previous government. But he isn’t doing that.
In the ongoing budget session, Revanth offered ministerial roles to BRS MLAs, daring them to tackle the government’s issues head-on. BRS MLA Harish Rao accepted the challenge, urging Revanth to step down as CM if he couldn’t address the problems and pass the baton to him instead.
These verbal wars will lead to nothing and won’t help public welfare in any way. So, Revanth and his cabinet need to concentrate on the governance more and the way forward rather than criticizing BRS all day. At the end of the day, people will only look at the quality of governance and not the number of abuses made by their leader.
