It has been a few years since Nandi Awards were given in the Telugu film industry. After the state was bifurcated, the distribution of these awards was stalled in Telangana.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that his government will soon replace the Nandi Awards in the state with “Gaddar Awards,” to recognise films and artists. Revanth said it is a tribute to the popular revolutionary singer Gaddar.
A GO will be passed soon by the government. Revanth added that these awards will be given every year on January 31, on the occasion of Gaddar Jayanthi.
