Hyd: Rapido Driver Tries To Extort 30k

A Rapido driver in Hyderabad attempted to extort Rs. 30,000 from a private employee, leaving the victim in fear. The frightened individual complained to Masab Tank Police Station.

Getting into more details, Ashwin Kumar (41), residing in Veer Nagar of Chintal Basti in Khairatabad, had booked a Rapido ride from his home to ICICI Towers in the Financial District to transport a laptop. Srimanth, a Rapido driver, was assigned to collect the laptop.

However, Srimanth called Ashwin shortly after picking up the laptop and demanded Rs. 30,000 for the safe delivery of the device. He went on to threaten the deletion of data and the destruction of the laptop if his demands were not met. Panicked by unsuccessful negotiations, Ashwin eventually reported the incident to the police. The Masab Tank police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter.
