Andhra Pradesh High Court sentenced Guntur municipal commissioner Chekuri Keerthi to one month of imprisonment and imposed a Rs 2,000 fine in a contempt of court case. The court found her guilty of not complying with its orders in a lease case involving Yadavalli Vari Satram, a charity organization in Guntur.
The petitioner had raised concerns about the non-implementation of previous court orders. Keerthi is required to surrender before the High Court registrar on January 2.
The court deemed her actions contempt and handed down the sentence in response to the official’s failure to obey its directives.
