L&T Technology Services recently let go of 200 employees following performance evaluations to eliminate overlapping job roles. The company focused on mid to senior-level staff, according to Times of India reports.
The engineering service firm is among several in India reducing staff, following PhysicsWallah, an edutech company that released 120 employees. This action was part of L&T’s performance cycle to trim various positions.
Most of the affected workers were from delivery and support departments, which had begun automating various functions. With over 24,000 employees, there might be more layoffs in January after assessing the business climate.
The spokesperson stated, “We conduct yearly performance reviews to evaluate our workforce’s skills and performance, essential to maintain high service standards, continuous improvement, and technological innovation.”
