Former MP and actor Vijayashanti has resigned from the BJP and is expected to rejoin the Congress party. Reports indicate that she sent her resignation letter to BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy.
Vijayashanti, who began her political career with the BJP in 1998, later formed her own party during the Telangana statehood agitation, merging it with the TRS. She was elected to Parliament in 2009 as a TRS candidate, later joining the Congress in 2014 and then leaving the party.
She will be joining Congress again in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge at an official AICC event in Telangana tomorrow.
