Surge In RTC Passengers; No Holiday For Them

Thanks to the recently launched ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, women throughout the state are flocking to TSRTC buses for travel. This initiative, introduced by the newly established Congress government, offers free bus tickets exclusively for women.

According to reports, there has been a 15% surge in passenger numbers compared to the previous Sunday (December 3) to this Sunday (December 10) since the scheme’s implementation, with the majority being women travellers.

With today marking the final Monday of the auspicious Kartika Masam, officials anticipate a further rise in female travellers. Consequently, the RTC management cancelled the holiday for drivers and conductors today. Additionally, the management has opted to increase bus services to Shiva pilgrimage sites such as Vemulawada, Kaleshwaram, Keesara, and Ramappa.
