Telengana Elections: First Vote Polled

The start of the Telangana Assembly Elections 2023 saw the inaugural vote cast in Hyderabad’s Khairatabad Assembly constituency on Tuesday, November 21. Annapurna Chunduri, aged 91, made history as the first voter by utilizing the new home voting service aimed at senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, introduced by the Election Commission of India.

Officials and police facilitated the postal ballot to Chunduri’s residence, where she cast the inaugural vote for the Telangana Assembly elections, according to the Deccan Chronicle. This home voting facility will be available until November 27. Eligible voters, including those above 80 years old, persons with disabilities, and essential services employees, can apply for the service through Form 12-D submitted to the Returning Officer within five days of the Telangana polls notification.
