An anonymous individual contacted Mumbai Police, claiming a threat against industrialist Ratan Tata’s life. They urged the authorities to tighten Tata’s security, hinting at a fate similar to that of former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry.
In response to the call, the police immediately heightened security measures around Tata while simultaneously attempting to trace the caller’s location.
Through their investigation, the cops discovered that the caller resided in Pune, although the call originated from Karnataka. Upon visiting the Pune address, they found the caller missing for the past five days. Subsequent inquiries revealed that the caller, an MBA graduate, suffers from schizophrenia. Acting impulsively, he had taken phones from strangers to make the call to the police without their knowledge. Due to his condition, the police chose not to pursue legal action against him.
