In a tragic incident that happened in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district, a couple committed suicide due to their inability to pay their credit card bills. The mounting pressure of their credit card dues exceeding their financial means led them to this drastic decision.
Reports indicate that the couple had accumulated credit card loans totalling Rs. 12 lakhs, along with an outstanding bill of Rs. 3 lakhs. The couple, Suresh and Bhagya, after sending their children to their grandparents’ house, consumed pesticides to end their lives.
The police investigating the case revealed that the couple had been excessively using their credit cards to purchase expensive items. Despite repeated alerts from the bank regarding the repayment of their dues, they failed to pay back the money.
Eventually, bank officials visited their residence to pressure them into settling the dues. Feeling publicly humiliated by this action, the couple committed suicide.
