YSR’s Greed Causing Deadly Mishaps On ORR?

Cantonment MLA Lasya Nanditha lost her life in a tragic road accident this morning on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Patancheru. This mishap raised concerns about the road’s design once again and the alarming rise in accidents on the ORR.

A section of people are blaming former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy for the flawed alignment of the ORR. Allegations have resurfaced suggesting that Reddy exerted pressure on the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HMDA) officials to alter the road’s layout, allegedly to benefit his acquaintances’ land interests. Similar accusations have circulated on social media before.

In the past, former Telangana Minister Etela Rajender also accused YSR of altering the ORR’s alignment at Shamirpet for personal gain.

Experts have previously criticized the geometric alignment of the ORR, noting discrepancies from the original design. They have recommended specific measures to prevent accidents.

While overspeeding is often cited as a primary cause of accidents, many argue that the improper alignment of the road also plays a significant role. In light of Lasya Nanditha’s tragic death, there are calls for the government to address these concerns and implement stringent measures to prevent further tragedies on the ORR.
