After facing a ban in India and Nepal, TikTok is facing a similar challenge in the United States where it has become a very popular app. The reason behind this demand for ban surfaced after letters of the ex Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden surfaced on the platform. Leaders across the country are demanding a ban on the platform.
The letter was originally published in 2002 after the 9/11 tragedy which killed more than 3000 Americans. Recently thousands of tiktokers have been creating content with the letter penned by Osama Bin Laden. Their demand for a ban on the platform comes years after such concerns were raised by other countries like India.
This also highlights the self centered attitude of the USA over such issues. TikTok has been a controversial platform from the beginning. It was allegedly involved in breaching customer privacy. It broke some protocols in India which resulted in the ban of the application.
In response to the allegation, TikTok has said that it is removing all such content from its platform as they are in violation of the terms of use of the platform. However a large number of new videos surface everyday.
