The responsibility of upholding the spirit of the game lies with the athletes and the players no matter which game it is. Sometimes winning is not as important as maintaining the sportsman spirit. However, this can also turn into something controversial as it happened in the Beijing half marathon.
The half marathon event at Beijing turned controversial when a Chinese athlete was allegedly allowed to win despite being behind three others. The video of the race has gone viral and the internet is confused about what exactly happened there.
It can be seen that the three Ethiopian athletes running ahead of the Chinese athlete He Jie, allowed him to cross them just before the finish line. The race is now under investigation and authorities would soon disclose the findings.
One of the athletes who allowed him to cross them said that he did that because he was his friend and wanted him to win. He also said that he was not competing in the event but only maintaining the pace of the race. Many Chinese fans are not happy about it and demands a thorough investigation.
