Debate Widens After Animal Alpha Behaviour!

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal” has smashed theaters, collecting a whopping 110 crores worldwide. Along with its box office success, the film has sparked a debate about the treatment of the protagonist. There is no doubt that the violence is unhinged in this Ranbir Kapoor starter action-drama, and getting an ‘A’ certificate may suffice, but there’s more to consider. What about the social and moral constructs the movie has shattered?

A large section of people has stood against the movie, labeling it a story filled with toxic masculinity and male ego, and portraying Ranbir’s character as the flag bearer of the so-called alpha males of society. Comparisons with a movie like “Badla,” where Sriram Raghavan also portrayed a dark, violent, and morally corrupt character, are being drawn. However, Raghavan never glorified it. Considering our audience, which is so gullible that it creates temples for their stars, this movie could corrupt their minds.

While some people understand the difference between a movie and the real world and would never appreciate Ranvijay Singh ‘Balbir,’ Ranbir’s character in the movie, this portion of the public is as small in number as the tickets being sold for Sambahadur.
