Dua Lipa’s Visit Exposes Deep Indian Problem

Dua Lipa’s recent immersion into Indian culture has spotlighted a deeper issue within the country, a pervasive identity crisis that seems to surface when endorsed by foreign figures. The frenzy surrounding the billionaire pop singer’s adoption of Indian traditions, from saree-clad appearances to speaking regional languages, sheds light on an unsettling trend: the inclination to value one’s culture only when validated by affluent or white foreigners.

This phenomenon reflects a broader societal challenge, where the authenticity of Indian customs and traditions is sometimes questioned until it receives an external stamp of approval. Taking in consideration an average Indian Girl with a contrasting perspective, dismissing aspects of her own culture, exemplifies the internal conflict faced by many within the country.

Dua Lipa’s visit serves as a mirror, urging Indians to confront and address these deep-seated identity issues. Instead of fixating on external validations, it’s time to instill pride in our heritage and encourage a more inclusive and self-assured cultural identity. The country’s diverse traditions and rich history are assets that don’t require external affirmation to be celebrated.

Ultimately, Dua Lipa’s visit should prompt introspection and a renewed commitment to fostering a sense of cultural confidence that transcends the need for external approval. It’s an opportunity for India to embrace its identity with pride, independent of who applauds it from afar.
