A woman has filed an FIR after her children were exposed to an obscene reel while watching videos on her mobile phone at home. The incident occurred when the children were scrolling through reels on Instagram.
According to the woman, the children were initially watching harmless and entertaining videos. Suddenly, an adult and inappropriate clip appeared on the screen, prompting her to immediately take the phone away.
She said the incident left her shocked and disturbed. The woman felt such content should never appear before children on a widely used social media platform.
Later, she checked the Instagram account that shared the reel. She found that the same user ID was uploading multiple obscene reels openly without any age warning or restriction.
What alarmed her further was the reach of the content. The reel had already been viewed by around 15 million users, raising serious concerns about content moderation.
Following this, the woman approached the cyber police station and filed a complaint against the Instagram user. She stated that such content could negatively impact children’s thinking and behaviour.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. The case has once again highlighted growing concerns over children’s safety on social media platforms.
The incident has also sparked discussions on the responsibility of platforms and parents. Many believe stricter monitoring and stronger content regulations are urgently needed to protect children online.
