The newly formed Hyderabad Food Safety task force, known as H-FAST, conducted aggressive, surprise raids on underground fast-food manufacturing units in the Old City’s Charminar area on Friday morning.
The sudden inspections uncovered shocking public health violations being operated inside residential premises without any valid commercial licenses or sanitary permissions.
During the targeted operation, food safety officials seized and destroyed over 90 liters of highly adulterated, repeatedly reused cooking oil and 110 kilograms of stale, expired fried chicken that was ready for market supply.
Inspectors noted that the facility was preparing bulk food under extremely unhygienic conditions using banned synthetic food colors and illegal chemical additives to mask the smell of decaying meat.
The authorities immediately arrested two operators managing the illegal warehouse and filed strict criminal cases against them. Following the raid, the department released an emergency public safety helpline number, urging citizens to immediately report unhygienic practices or suspicious local kitchens to protect community health.
