Women’s safety continues to be a growing concern, with frequent reports of harassment, kidnapping, and assault causing widespread worry. To address this, Hyderabad police have launched the Safe Mobility Drive, aimed at making public transport safer for women.
Under this initiative, women can report harassment directly to bus conductors, auto drivers, or metro staff. Immediate help is now easier to access, ensuring that victims can get timely assistance and feel more secure while traveling.
If a woman feels unsafe, she can call 100 or 112. Trained bus conductors and auto drivers alert the police immediately, who then reach the spot and take proper action against offenders, reinforcing a strong safety response.
The drive was introduced after several incidents, including a recent metro case of misbehavior. It covers buses, metros, and autos, aiming to instil confidence among women using public transport across Hyderabad.
All transport departments, including TSRTC, metro services, and private buses, are collaborating. Nodal officers monitor complaints, and SHE teams ensure strict action against offenders. Emergency control rooms are directly connected for faster response times.
Ongoing training and awareness campaigns support the program’s implementation. The initiative marks an important step toward protecting women and encouraging safe, confident travel across Hyderabad’s public transport system.
