A video from Hyderabad has gone viral. A young woman shared her disturbing experience of a man masturbating and behaving in a highly inappropriate way while she was out for a morning run on a walking track, in broad daylight.
Her point is simple. She does not feel safe. She wakes up early, goes out to run for her health, and this is what she has to deal with.
The issue is very clear. But instead of addressing it, some extremely regressive men on social media have started attacking her.
They are blaming her clothing, claiming her attire is the reason for the man’s behavior.
Does that make any sense? Absolutely not.
This kind of thinking is exactly why women feel unsafe in public spaces today.
The problem is not what she wore. The problem is the behavior of such men.
Expecting a woman to run in a saree shows how absurd this mindset is. Running requires proper athletic wear. She stepped out for exercise, not for a ritual.
What is truly unfortunate is that even in such a clear case, the victim is questioned instead of the man who is clearly at fault. Sad!
