India Goes LOL: No Social Media for Under 16

In a move unique move that came as a surprise to many, Australia has proposed to ban social media for kids under 16 years of age. This proposal is being seen as a move to combat the increasing danger of digital addiction.

This move has received a surprisingly humorous response from Indians, especially parents, who now seem relieved at the prospect of their kids being present in the moment, rather than locked behind a screen.

But banning social media brings challenges of its own! One Indian parent hilariously shared his grave situation by commenting, “Acha, so now we’ll have to actually talk to our kids?”

Even other parents seem to be sweating at the prospect of actually handling their hormonal pre-teen kids filled with their God-given mood swings!

Another parent shared their humorous take as they wrote, “Can we really handle the endless ‘What’s for lunch?’ conversations without some Instagram scrolling of our own?”

Teenagers in India also had their own take on the situation. In ‘heartfelt’ advice to their Australian brothers, one Indian teenager commented, “Australia, we’ve been bypassing bans since Orkut went down. VPN hai na?”

Of course, the story would not be complete without parents chiming in with nostalgic stories about their good old ‘Doordarshan Days’ when the only like button was a thumbs-up reaction from their dads!

In short, the Indian public seems to be enjoying their share of fun along with expressing their opinions on this matter with both praise and skepticism.
