Viral Video: Lions Kill Zookeeper in Safari World

A shocking tragedy occurred at Safari World in Bangkok on September 10, 2025, when a 58-year-old zookeeper, Jian Rangkharasamee, was mauled to death by a group of lions in front of horrified visitors.

Jian, a senior caretaker with over 20 years of experience, reportedly stepped out of his vehicle inside the open-air enclosure, violating strict safety rules. Within seconds, a lion attacked from behind, dragging him to the ground.

Several other lions quickly joined the attack, making it impossible for him to escape. Tourists honked and shouted in panic, but the attack lasted over 15 minutes before staff were able to intervene and drive the animals away.

Safari World released a statement confirming this was the first fatal lion attack in more than 40 years of operations. Officials announced an urgent review of safety measures and reminded staff of the risks of working near wild animals.

The incident has sparked debate over safety training, enclosure design, and regular refresher protocols for zoo workers. The focus remains on supporting the victim’s family and addressing the psychological trauma faced by witnesses.

This tragedy highlights how even one lapse, whether accidental or deliberate, can lead to irreversible consequences in wildlife settings. Safari World’s procedures will now face intense review as global calls grow for stricter safety and greater transparency in zoos.
