Telugu YouTuber Rama Nandana, known online as Nandu’s World, was taken into custody by RGIA police at Shamshabad airport in connection with a fraud investigation.
The action came after police issued a Lookout Circular in a case being investigated by Ibrahimpatnam police in NTR district. Following her detention, RGIA police are expected to transfer Nandana to the Ibrahimpatnam authorities.
The case centres on allegations that Nandana, her husband Jagarlamudi Madhukar and his father Mohan Rao were involved in collecting money from people seeking opportunities in the UK.
According to the complaint filed by Mamillapalli Sivakranthi Kumar, who was based in the UK, he paid a total of ₹15 lakh in several transactions while seeking help with his visa status, employment and a Certificate of Sponsorship. He alleged that the promised assistance did not come through and that the CoS document given to him was not genuine. He further claimed that just ₹2 lakh was returned.
Police have named Madhukar as the first accused, Nandana as the second and Mohan Rao as the third in the case.
Nandana has rejected the allegations. She has maintained that neither she nor her husband operates the consultancy and claimed their identities were being wrongly associated with it. The couple has also approached the High Court challenging the FIR.
The investigation and legal proceedings are now set to determine the next course of action.
