Bhongir police arrested a man known as “Nithya Pellikoḍuku” for cheating women through fake marriage proposals. His name is Surendra. He built trust, promised marriage, took money and gold, and then disappeared.
In 2021, he contacted a woman through a Christian matrimony site. He behaved well and made her believe the relationship was real. He later asked for 15 lakh rupees and 30 tolas of gold for their future. After she gave everything, he escaped.
Police say this was not his first case. Surendra pretended to be a groom, collected valuables from multiple women and vanished. Complaints led to a search, after which police caught him and produced him in court.
He is now in judicial remand. Police continue investigation and urged other victims to report. They also asked the public to be alert and verify people before trusting marriage offers online or offline.
Similar cheating cases are increasing. Recently, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for marrying men only for money. Everyone must stay careful, avoid sharing valuables and expect stronger verification from matrimony platforms.
