Matrimony sites have become a common way to find a life partner. However, many families continue to fall victim to fake profiles and online scams.
Earlier, most frauds involved fake grooms who married several women for money. Now a new trend has emerged, with fake brides targeting families on matrimony platforms. One such case was reported in Parvatagiri mandal of Warangal district.
In this incident, the bride disappeared after the wedding with Rs 2 lakh in cash and 8 tolas of gold. The match was arranged through a matrimony site with a girl reportedly from Vijayawada.
The groom’s family later discovered that the girl, her parents and her relatives were all fake. It was also revealed that she had cheated two other men in the past.
The rise in such fraud cases raises serious concerns about the safety and reliability of matrimony sites. With many platforms operating without clear regulations, strict profile verification is needed to protect users from being cheated.
