Rainwear and Amphibious Autorickshaws Will Leave You Speechless

As Indian towns struggle with waterlogged roadways as the monsoon season approaches, an AI artist has reinvented an incredibly futuristic, yet curiously realistic, take on public vehicles that would be able to navigate through wet or flooded streets. These vehicles, which resemble a hybrid of an autorickshaw and a submarine, have been dubbed “Amphibious Autorickshaws.”

Prateek Arora, a screenwriter and digital developer, used Midjourney to create this AI art series. Arora also developed a series of pictures in which everyday individuals were dressed like Transformers. Arora captioned these photos, “Hyper-Adaptive Rainwear.” Mumbai, bring it on.”

An Instagram user commented on this series, saying, “In 2047, you need a mech suit because Mumbai monsoons mean you’ll be underwater.” “This reminds me of a super cool sci-fi story where sea levels rise so much due to climate change that Mumbai turns into a dystopian Indian Venice,” said another.

In recent months, Arora has received much notice for the distinct sci-fi and horror components of his AI artwork that blends with Indian subcontinental motifs. Arora discussed his personal style with Home Grown. “I’m strongly drawn to science fiction and horror, and I don’t think we get enough of either on screen in India,” he remarked. In terms of artistic effect, there are no Indian analogs to Star Wars/Marvel/Stephen King’s bodies of work, and hence no multi-generational love for these genres.”
