This case has had a complex history. In February 2023, Mukundan’s bail plea was denied amid allegations of his lawyer bribing judges. In May, the court lifted the stay on proceedings, potentially leading to a trial.
The victim claimed Mukundan assaulted her during a meeting in 2017, prompting her to file a complaint.
Mukundan denied the allegations and filed a defamation case against her, accusing her of seeking ₹25 lakhs in a settlement. His attempts to quash the case in lower courts were unsuccessful, leading him to appeal to the High Court.
