In a surprising incident from Kaimur district of Bihar, a wedding was called off after the bride noticed the groom’s hand shaking during the sindoor ceremony.
The bride alleged that the groom was mentally unstable and refused to go ahead with the marriage.
The incident occurred in Katra village under the jurisdiction of Bhabhua police station. The groom, Hira Kumar, son of Shivbachan Bind from Bagadhi village in the Chenari area, arrived with his wedding procession and all initial rituals were completed. However, during the crucial sindoor-daan ritual, the groom’s hand reportedly trembled and he was unable to apply sindoor properly.
The bride immediately backed out of the marriage, stating that the groom seemed “mad” and she could not marry him. The situation escalated quickly and the local police were informed. Police officials advised both families to come to the Bhabhua police station for discussion.
Despite several hours of negotiation, no agreement was reached. The bride remained firm on her decision. Eventually, the groom had to return home without a bride.
The groom’s family claimed that they had already spent a significant amount on the wedding. According to the groom’s father, the marriage was fixed for one lakh rupees, of which they had received 90,000 in cash. They spent 30,000 on jewelry, 20,000 on sarees, 10,000 on a DJ and the rest on a vehicle for the procession.
He alleged that the bride’s side, after backing out, started demanding money instead of continuing with the wedding. The matter remains unresolved.
