Internet’s Latest Revolution: 40k Cost Shocks Users

Starlink has launched its high speed satellite internet service in Bangladesh. A big step for digital connectivity in the region.

Available nationwide with one time setup cost of 47,000 taka (around 39,000) and monthly plans starting from 4,200 taka (around 2,990).

You can choose between two plans: standard “Starlink Residential” at 6,000 taka (around 4,500) per month and “Residential Lite” at 4,200 taka (around 3,150) per month. Both have unlimited data with speed up to 300 Mbps.

A stable alternative that’s less prone to disruption during political unrest or infrastructure failure.

Starlink is a global satellite internet constellation developed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX to deliver high speed, low latency broadband even in remote and underserved areas.

Unlike traditional broadband which depends on ground based cables, Starlink uses thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit.

So it can bypass many infrastructure challenges and make internet access possible where fiber or cellular networks are not practical or available.

It’s easy to set up, just a small satellite dish and a clear view of the sky and can be ordered online.

Now that Starlink has launched in Bangladesh, attention turns to India where a similar launch is expected soon.

Based on Bangladesh’s pricing, Indian customers can expect one time setup fee of 39,000 and monthly charges starting from 2,990.

While this is higher than most local broadband options, Starlink’s real value lies in reaching India’s rural and remote areas, potentially bridging the digital divide and providing reliable connectivity where traditional networks fail.
