A strange scene unfolded in Brijghat, Uttar Pradesh. Villagers gathered for the funeral of a man believed to be dead, but the moment they opened the cloth at the cremation ground, they found a plastic dummy instead of a body.
The villagers sensed fraud and alerted police. Officers checked the car that carried the dummy and found two more plastic bodies packed inside. The situation raised suspicion of a planned insurance scam.
After questioning those involved, police discovered that the man was alive. A cloth merchant from Delhi and two others staged a fake death to claim insurance money. They intended to collect a large payout using false proof.
Their plan collapsed because the villagers noticed the dummy. Police reached quickly and arrested all three men. The case highlights how some people attempt insurance fraud by fabricating death stories.
