The upcoming U.S. elections, set for November 5, are drawing global attention, and a new Hollywood movie called The Apprentice is adding to the buzz.
This film, based on the early life of Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is creating headlines. While it was supposed to be released in India on October 18, it may be delayed.
A special screening was held in Mumbai on October 16, where it was revealed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for some scenes to be cut.
The filmmakers have refused to accept these changes, particularly because some scenes are important to the story.
If an agreement with the CBFC is reached soon, the film will be released as planned. If not, the release might be pushed to October 25.
Despite the uncertainty, the uncut version was shown to the press and some moviegoers. It’s likely the CBFC wanted to remove explicit scenes, but these scenes are central to the film’s plot.
The Apprentice stars Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong as his lawyer Roy Cohn. It explores Trump’s rise in real estate and also features Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump.
Directed by Ali Abbasi, the film premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
