Famous Indian YouTuber Mithilesh Backpacker shared a shocking incident of harassment his Russian wife, Lisa, faced at the City Palace in Udaipur.
While filming a vlog with Lisa and their two-year-old son, Mithilesh recorded a man making an offensive remark, “6,000 INR.” (often used as a sexual slur against Russian women.)
The video of the incident went viral, sparking widespread anger. Mithilesh confronted the man on camera, saying, “Who are you saying 6,000 INR to? Just because my wife is Russian, you think you can make such comments?”
He called out the behavior, but was further disheartened when palace security asked him not to call the police. The YouTuber expressed his frustration, saying, “I wanted to promote Indian tourism as safe and beautiful, but this is shameful.
How can people behave this way?” He criticized the attitude toward women, especially foreign tourists, in India.
This is not the first such incident. In 2022, a South Korean woman was harassed while livestreaming in Mumbai. In 2024, a Spanish woman was gang-raped in Jharkhand. These incidents highlight ongoing safety issues for foreigner tourists, especially women in India.
Many people have condemned the harassment, calling for stricter laws and better enforcement to protect women. Others criticized the palace security’s lack of action, showing the need for serious changes to ensure safety for both locals and tourists
The critics also advocated for a better worldview towards all the races and cultures, acknowledging the rampant racism and sexism that ails India.
