A video from an IIT fresher’s party has gone viral, showing a first-year student performing a confident and bold dance on stage. While the audience cheered, the performance has divided opinions online.
Critics are making harsh comments about the institution. Some mocked IIT standards, saying, “Don’t ask why IITians are not getting jobs.”
Others suggested that students are distracted by such events or implied that the dancer might secure jobs for reasons other than her abilities.
However, many defended the student, calling out the negativity. “Education isn’t measured by the fact that she danced. Her presence at IIT shows her caliber and hard work,” said one user. Others pointed out that confidence is key to success.
“Anyone confident enough to perform like this will easily ace an interview,” commented another.
Recruiters agree. One hiring professional noted, “Around the world, employers value confident, proactive candidates who balance academics and hobbies. These qualities, along with academic excellence, make them ideal hires.”
While events like these add vibrancy to college life, institutions like IIT must maintain their sanctity. The performance was undoubtedly entertaining yet unfitting for a college event. However the criticism it sparked highlights the need to celebrate talent rather than shame it.
