In a surprising case from Vizag, a husband filed a police complaint against his own wife for playing cards regularly with her friends. Tired of their daily gambling sessions, he reported the matter to the police, leading to a raid that has now become the talk of Vizag.
The incident took place in Lalitha Nagar, where the Four Town police conducted a swift raid. They took six women into custody and seized ₹22,000 in cash from the location. Locals have been buzzing with gossip ever since the news broke out.
Police confirmed that the women were running a mini card club inside a building and were engaging in high-stakes gambling. Although some people feel that playing cards casually is common these days, this case stood out because one of the husbands took it to the higher police officials.
Earlier, the police had warned the same group but no action was taken. This time, however, the women ignored the warning and continued gambling, which forced the police to intervene. A formal case has now been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
This is not an isolated case in Andhra Pradesh. Similar raids are being carried out by police across districts to catch those involved in gambling and alcohol abuse. Drones are being used to locate such gatherings quickly, even in remote or hidden locations.
In many areas, addicted gamblers have started playing in fields and barren lands to escape police detection. But the use of drone technology has made it harder for them to avoid capture, as police are reaching the spots almost instantly.
