131 Crore Bonus? BCCI Rewards World Cup Champions

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of Rs 131 crore for the Indian team after their victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The announcement came a day after India defeated New Zealand in the final in Ahmedabad. The reward is Rs 6 crore higher than the Rs 125 crore bonus given after the 2024 T20 World Cup win under Rohit Sharma.

India created history with the latest triumph. The team became the first side to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title.

India delivered a dominant performance in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. After being asked to bat first, the Indian batters attacked the New Zealand bowlers and posted a huge total of 255 for 5.

The target proved too big for New Zealand. India secured a comfortable victory and lifted the T20 World Cup trophy in front of a packed home crowd.

Several players made important contributions with the bat. However, Sanju Samson stood out during the tournament and delivered strong performances in key knockout matches.

The opener finished the competition as the Player of the Tournament. His consistent batting played a major role in India’s successful campaign.

The victory also carried emotional value for Indian fans. The same stadium had witnessed India lose the 2023 ODI World Cup final to Australia.

This time, the home crowd celebrated a historic triumph. The team lifted the trophy in Ahmedabad and ended the painful memory from the earlier final.

When India won the T20 World Cup in 2024, the BCCI had announced a reward of Rs 125 crore for the players and support staff.

For the 2026 victory, the board increased the reward to Rs 131 crore. The amount recognises India’s achievement of winning back to back T20 World Cups.

India remained one of the most consistent teams during the 2026 tournament. The side lost only one match against South Africa in the Super 8 stage.

After that setback, the team bounced back strongly in the knockout matches and the final to secure the title.

India’s latest triumph continues a successful phase in ICC tournaments for the country.

The success has also spread across other teams. The Indian women’s side won the Women’s ODI World Cup, while the Under 19 team lifted the U19 World Cup.

These victories highlight the depth and strength of Indian cricket across formats and age groups.

With the 2026 T20 World Cup victory, India now hold multiple ICC titles in men’s, women’s and junior competitions.

The next major goal for the men’s team will be the 2027 ODI World Cup.
