Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a player of immense importance to Team India. His performance in almost every red ball series has been more than commendable.
And this ongoing England tour is proving to be no different. Jaiswal, showing brilliant batting prowess, has become the first Indian opener in the last 50 years to score 50+ runs at Old Trafford.
On the contrary, his opening counterpart KL Rahul has struggled again and again to convert his numbers into big scores, despite having arguably the best of the techniques in red ball cricket.
Today turned out to be no different for Rahul as his innings was cut short at 46 thanks to a catch from Zack Crawley.
It isn’t like Rahul doesn’t know how to bat. He has brilliant technical knowledge, he does. The problem comes in execution. Rahul isn’t able to properly execute his intentions on the field many a times, leading to his score remaining subpar.
We can only hope that Rahul overcomes his white whale to stand alongside Jaiswal in giving India the best opening partnership in a long time.
