Boards like the ECB and Cricket Australia have one thing in common — More often that not these boards respect legendary players from all across the world regardless of their nationalities.
The ECB’s recent unveiling of Sachin Tendulkar’s portrait at Lord’s is nothing but a proof of the same.
However, when it comes to our own board, the BCCI, it rarely appreciates any global cricketing talent. Forget global, many times our own cricketers don’t get the respect they deserve, ending their careers on a low note.
There are many examples of this in the form of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or MSD, names who didn’t get even a single farewell from the BCCI, quietly fading away as if they never existed.
Not only this, other boards often publish the highlights of their matches on YouTube for all to see. However, the BCCI does no such thing like this, keeping the monopoly firmly in the hands of platforms like JioHotstar.
With such gaping flaws, the BCCI looks more like an insecure governing body than a mammoth of a cricketing board that it actually is.
It needs to mend its ways to be much more inclusive and free towards the public to encourage the spirit of the game not only at a national, but a global level as well.
