Pakistan’s India Win Backfired? Ex-Captain’s Bombshell

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has linked the team’s recent struggles to their famous 10 wicket win over India at the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Pakistan had produced a historic result in Dubai, with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan chasing 152 without losing a wicket. It remains one of Pakistan’s biggest wins against India in a World Cup.

Despite, Yousuf believes the result had a negative impact on the team afterwards.

Speaking to Samaa TV, Yousuf said some players began to feel that they had achieved something major after the victory. He suggested that the team failed to build on that success in the right way.

Yousuf also raised concerns over the captaincy situation in Pakistan cricket. He claimed that several players were competing for the leadership role, which created problems within the team.

The former batter also criticised Pakistan’s performances in recent major tournaments, including the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and Asia Cup.

Yousuf said the Pakistan Cricket Board has made several attempts to improve the team, including changes to the coaching staff.

However, he believes the players must also take greater responsibility for their performances.

His comments come as Pakistan continue to work through changes in their cricket setup.

The former captain’s view has now added a different perspective to the 2021 victory over India a match that was initially celebrated as a landmark moment for Pakistan cricket.
