RCB Big Advantage? Bold Move or Blunder!

RCB may not play at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2026. For the first time in their history, the franchise could shift base due to safety concerns following their title celebrations this year.

Safety Issues After Title Parade Tragedy

After RCB won their first IPL title in 2025, a tragic stampede during their victory parade at the Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 12 lives. The incident forced authorities to impose strict restrictions on major public events at the venue.

Chinnaswamy Stadium Faces Restrictions

Due to ongoing safety reviews, the stadium was removed from hosting Women’s World Cup matches. Those games were shifted to Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, signalling that the venue might not be ready for large crowds anytime soon.

RCB in Talks with MCA

Reports suggest RCB are in talks with the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) to host their home matches at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Confirming this, MCA secretary Kamlesh Pai said discussions are underway, though nothing is finalised yet.

He added that RCB are exploring options after the Karnataka stampede incident and that Pune has offered to host their matches once a few technical issues are resolved.

RCB’s New Challenge Ahead

If the move happens, RCB will lose their home advantage and the unmatched Chinnaswamy crowd energy. Pune’s MCA Stadium has strong facilities, but recreating the Bengaluru vibe will be tough. For now, safety takes priority even if it means leaving home turf behind.
