India have received a timely boost ahead of their must win T20 World Cup clash against West Indies. Rinku Singh has rejoined the India squad in Kolkata following the passing of his father.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that Rinku will link up with the team on Saturday. He had earlier left the camp to attend the final rites of his father, Khanchand Singh, who passed away after battling liver cancer.
Despite dealing with personal loss, Rinku Singh remained committed to the team. Although he was not part of the playing XI against Zimbabwe, he was seen on the field as a substitute fielder.
India are now preparing for their crucial encounter against West Indies. The match will be played at Eden Gardens on March 1.
This match is being viewed as a virtual knockout. The winner will qualify for the Semi finals along with South Africa.
Rinku has not made a major impact with the bat in the tournament so far. However, his return gives India an additional middle-order option ahead of the most important game of their campaign.
Rinku Singh’s comeback comes at an emotional time for the squad. The team management must now decide whether to include him in the playing XI for the West Indies clash.
