Gill Removes Sanju from WC Photo? Jealousy or Trolls?

A recent social media debate has placed Shubman Gill at the centre of controversy after a post related to India’s T20 World Cup celebrations.

Some users accused Shubman Gill of editing Sanju Samson out of a congratulatory photo he shared online. The claim quickly spread across social media platforms.

A section of Virat Kohli fans criticised Gill and accused him of acting out of insecurity. Several comments also linked the issue to alleged rivalry between Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson for a place in India’s T20 setup.

The narrative gained traction as many people began sharing screenshots online. Some users claimed that Sanju Samson had been intentionally removed from the image.

However, a closer look at the images revealed an important detail. The pictures being compared were actually different photographs from the same celebration moment.

In the version shared by Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson appeared to be hidden behind other players. This created the impression that he had been removed from the frame.

Another cricketer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, also posted the same photograph that Gill shared. This further suggested that the image had not been edited.

The comparison indicates that the controversy may have been based on a misunderstanding. The position of players in the frame created confusion among viewers.

The incident highlights how quickly online narratives can spread without proper verification.

Shubman Gill, who currently leads India in Test and ODI formats, remains one of the key players in the national setup.

Observers say fans should be cautious before spreading unverified claims. Social media trolling can sometimes affect players and create unnecessary negativity around the team.
