Why Blame Gambhir? Gavaskar Questions Fan Outrage

Sunil Gavaskar recently reacted to the criticism directed at head coach Gautam Gambhir. The former Indian opener and broadcaster questioned the outrage after India’s brutal loss in the test series against South Africa. He asked why people blame Gambhir but do not credit him for earlier wins.

Gavaskar said that fans must stay consistent. He argued that if Gambhir did not get credit for the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup, he should not be blamed now. He reminded critics that they never appreciated the CT Win or the Asia Cup victory.

Criticism Over Public Reactions

According to Gavaskar, neither the public nor cricket pundits supported Gambhir earlier. He said the same people who ignored the Asia Cup and CT Win now blame him for the test series failure and last year’s whitewash against New Zealand. This inconsistency, he said, is unfair.

Fans Divided Over Gavaskar’s Stand

A small group of fans agrees with Gavaskar and supports his effort to protect GG’s image. But many others say he is ignoring the difference between a white-ball win and a red-ball failure. They feel this comparison is misleading.

Accountability Debate Around Gambhir

Some fans say that even if the CT and Asia Cup wins are considered, the coach must still be accountable. The team failed under his watch, and they believe this cannot be ignored. They point out that Gambhir earlier criticised Ravi Shastri for not winning a test series outside India.
