Team India faces hotel concerns

The Indian cricket team has been linked with reports of a possible Asian Games pullout because of accommodation issues in Japan.

But there is no official confirmation that Team India has refused to travel or threatened to withdraw from the tournament. The accommodation issue itself is real.

The 2026 Asian Games cricket competition will be played in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with the cricket venue in Nisshin.

Several Asian Cricket Council members have raised concerns about accommodation and logistics for the tournament.

Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Prakash Schaffter recently spoke about concerns over the quality of accommodation and other arrangements.

Why are teams worried about hotels. The main issue is the availability of five star hotels near the cricket venue.

There are not enough luxury hotel rooms in the area to accommodate all the teams and other Asian Games visitors.

Some reports have also raised concerns about the distance between the hotels and the cricket ground.

The ACC has discussed the issue, and participating boards are expected to look at the arrangements before the tournament.

Reports claimed that the BCCI was unhappy with the arrangements and could consider sending a second string side. But India have already announced a strong squad for the Asian Games.

Has India actually threatened to pull out? There is currently no official statement from the BCCI saying that India will withdraw from the Asian Games because of hotel facilities.

There are concerns about the arrangements, but that does not mean India have refused to participate.

The ACC and organisers now have to make sure the teams receive proper accommodation and transport arrangements before the competition begins.

For India, the question is not whether the hotel issue exists. The question is whether the arrangements will be good enough for the team once they arrive in Japan.

Until the BCCI says otherwise, reports of Team India refusing to play because of the hotels should be treated with caution.
